About a month ago, I discovered that the Lingerie Addict has a group on Facebook dedicated simply to people like me – Lingerie Addicts. It’s a safe and private place where we can go to discuss lingerie without worry of being attacked or judged. Not long after I joined, a thread was started discussing the possibility of doing a lingerie Secret Santa where members would be assigned a random person to send a lingerie-themed gift of £30 or under. Of course, I signed up straight away!
The lingerie Secret Santa was open worldwide, but you were able to choose whether you wanted to send closer to home. I picked worldwide as I thought it would be fun to send a British brand somewhere abroad, and I was really lucky to have someone do the same for me.
We all filled in a spreadsheet with our sizing, addresses and a few likes/hobbies, then the lovely lady who organised it all set us up on a Secret Santa website which anonymously picked out our partner and sent us their details. From what I can tell, it was a big success!
For my partner, I picked out the Twisted Lingerie bra which I reviewed here. I loved it so much, and based on my research of my partner in what she’d responded to and posted in the group, I thought she might like it. She’s based in the US so I was very excited to be able to introduce her to a British brand she hopefully wouldn’t have tried or maybe heard of before. She received her gift just before Christmas and shared in the group that she loved it – I was so happy!
And I was just as happy to receive my gorgeous gift which came all the way from Australia! I was thrilled to have a new brand to discover, and even more thrilled when I opened the package to find something I would most definitely have picked out myself too.
These gorgeous Bow Me sheer dot knickers in a size medium came from Dream & Drive Lingerie, handmade by the owner who had picked me from the swap. The medium fits my currently 27″ and 38″ hips perfectly.
The knickers are made from a soft polka dot sheer mesh fabric all over, with an X of satin elastic across the back, finished with a ribbon bow. The X shaped elastic is actually loose at the back, attached at the top of the side seam and to the elastic across the bottom.
I love the high waisted cut – it’s very retro and very me. And it’s made even better with the twist of the cut across the back where it’s pulled into a more geometric shape by the elastic (if that makes sense!) rather than the usual sweeping cut. I didn’t actually notice this shape until I glanced in the mirror and found them very comfortable to wear. I love that they’re a little different to the usual high waisted briefs – it makes them really stand out.
Receiving these knickers has made me realise that I need to remember to focus on pretty briefs more often. I usually jump straight to bras or bodysuits, often forgetting that knickers can be a piece of artwork in themselves too, like these.
Hopefully there’s another lingerie Secret Santa next year because I’m most definitely going to take part again!
