“Cabaret” pink, a little bit lacey and cleavage enhancing – have you ever seen a bra and knickers set more worthy of the Barbie title? I haven’t! That’s why we had to match it with the Barbie-esque shoes from ASOS too, you see 😉
Gossard are a brand we both really like here at BCLC – they make a good selection of lingerie that fits a range of sizes including both of our own, however we would like to see them stretch a little further in their size range in future to include more. When they asked if we’d like to help out with some reviews of their SS16 collection, of course we were going to say yes! Scanning through the Lookbook, there were a LOT of pieces that caught my eye and it didn’t take me long to pick out my favourites. My absolute favourite was actually the Lustful Deep V bra, but sadly it only starts at a 32 band and goes up to a D cup, so that one will have to stay in my dreams!
The Superboost Lace Plunge though has been released again this season in a stunning Cabaret pink shade. It reminds me of the bras I used to wear as a teenager, in a very nostalgic and awesome way as it’s difficult to find many like this in fuller bust sizes – the plunge gore, bright colour and push up shape all bring me back to the pieces I would pick up from high street stores about 10 years ago.
Shape & Appearance
The Superboost Lace Plunge bra and briefs in cabaret pink is one of those sets that immediately grabs your attention – it’s eye catching, young and fun. The pink is just as bright in real life as it’s coming across in these photos. And the cleavage is also just as enhanced in real life as it’s coming across here too! For those that worry they can’t find cleavage enhancing bras in full bust, this is one to try.
True to plunge style, it has a lovely low gore, decorated with Gossard’s signature “G” charm and a small bow, a feature which is also duplicated on the briefs. The cups are foam but not “padded” (I assume this means with extra push up padding) in DD+ styles or 40+ bands, and are made up of 3 parts – a diagonal seam separating the lower and upper cup sections.
The shape is a little odd in this one to be honest. While it does give an awesome pushed together and upwards cleavage, the cup itself has a flatness at the bottom then a peak at the apex. Nevertheless, the eye is drawn instead to the cleavage rather than the strange cup shape, but I’ll talk about how it affects fit in a minute.
The bra fastens with 3 sets of 2 hooks and eyes and the straps are fully adjustable.
Size, fit & comfort
I chose the 30G in the Gossard Superboost Lace Plunge bra and find this to be a fairly good fit – it’s probably my best size in this particular bra. Had there been a 28GG, I would have chosen that to try first, but word is that Gossard’s bands tend to run tighter so I went up to my other standard size. To be honest, I find this band slightly larger than my Gossard Lola bra which definitely fits on the tighter side. I’d say the Gossard Lola band fits like a 28 band and the Gossard Superboost Lace Plunge like a 29 band – I know, doesn’t exist, but it’s not as tight as a 28 but not as loose as a standard 30, okay?!
On first trying it on, I scooped and swooped then gasped at the overspill thinking it was too small. As I straightened back up again though, everything fell into place a little more and settled more into cleavage than spilling. I’m just on the boundary of the cups being too small I’d say, but mostly because they’re very shallow, especially immediately at the bottom and sides of the cups. As I said before, they’re wide and flat at the bottom and sides creating a strange flatness then peak, but I feel like this is what produces this excellent cleavage for me. Though it’s definitely too wide and on the shallow side at the bottom for me, it is still comfortable and I’ve worn it countless times in the few weeks I’ve owned it. I think for it to work in the same way as it does for me, you need to have a shape that sits between even and full on top – if your breast shape is fuller on the bottom, you’ll find the bra getting pushed down a lot and gaping at the top. I also have firm tissue that can be “pushed” into a cleavage like this quite easily and will stay there, so softer tissue may also experience more spillage than I do.
So while the cups have this odd shape, in fact, it works well for me in producing the cleavage that I like so much about it. The lower flatness is only noticeable when you see it from the side without clothes on top (or I guess very skin tight clothing…but I do wear fitted clothes a lot and I haven’t noticed a weird shape under that).
I really like the lower gore on this bra. It’s pretty standard of a plunge bra, but I find it fairly difficult to find plunge bras that fit me well and that I like in fuller bust sizes, so I’m glad to have found one I like. I have a fairly sensitive sternum and rib cage thanks to costochondritis, so having a bra that doesn’t press on any sore points is lovely.
I also received the matching lace shorts in a size small and these are a good fit and nice match with the bra. I find short style briefs very comfortable and these were no exception, as well as being a flattering shape with the bra.
The Gossard Superboost Lace Plunge bra is available in sizes 32-36 A, 32-38 B-C, 30-38 D-G, 40 B-FF, 42 B-F, 44 B-E for £29. The matching shorts (£14) and thong (£12) are available in sizes XS to XL. You can also buy the bra via Brastop and Mish Online.

Have you any pictures of the padding please.
I want to know if it has a padded curve inside
Thanks carla
Hi Carla!
I finally managed to remember to get a pic of the inside – you can see it here:

It doesn’t have that padded curve that you might find in push up bras – it’s just a light foam. Hope that helps!
