It’s Christmas and so, logically, we hang knickers on our Christmas Tree. Please enjoy our festive lingerie photos below.
We included this set in our Gentleman’s Guide to Christmas Gifts before Charley went out to buy it for herself. She did this deliberately, having admired it for many weeks on the website, and couldn’t want to see if Father Christmas would drop it off in her stocking. She definitely didn’t just wander into M&S and see it on a manikin, and then later was unable to identify it to Sian when asked which bra she’d brought. You can see how much effort Charley puts into matching bra-name-to-bra-product.
Little Cup: [In my defence, it’s kind of stupid. If lingerie naming was slightly more imaginative it would be far easier to identify, but it’s just spring – summer – autumn – winter of *generic girl’s name* followed by *vaguely descriptive colour* or *almost appropriate adjective*. Like the Clara Blue Lace, or the Tanya Teal Trojan … whatever.]
In this case we have the Rosie. In Evergreen. Awwww, don’t it sound pretty.
I had to band-size-up in M&S from a 28 to a 30 which means (anyone? Any hands in the air?) that’s right – cups-size-down! So I’ve magically transformed into a 30C for this set, but I’m already on the tightest hook so here’s hoping it doesn’t stretch out too much in the wash. It actually fits really well in the cups, and it’s a nice low cut: it’s described as a ‘padded plunge’ (but who knows what that is when it’s at home). So here it is in layman’s terms: it’s kind of half-cupish, and has a nice dramatic curve down to the gauze, sitting about 1 1/2 cms above your nips. For little cups like me it fits well nicely. And it looks lovely draped over the Christmas tree.
I completely LOVE the colours this set comes in, and have to say I reckon the block colours of the red and green are the nicest in person. In photos the ones with contrast coloured lace look more obviously pretty, but subtle difference between the lace and silk in the same colour are really gorgeous. The only detail I ain’t so found of is the straps. They’re kinda – ruched? I think they’re meant to look ruched, but to me they just seem a bit OTT.
And the knickers are way pretty too, BUT I could do without the transparent backside. It seems to be a bit of a lingerie-trend at the mo, but I would like to have at least a couple of pairs that don’t show my arse crack to the world if I decide to strip off in public … But other than that, nice silky-front which gives off a vintage-y vibe, and they’re almost high-waisted. I apparently have the ‘midi’ ones, as opposed to the Brazilian. I suppose that accounts for the pseudo-high-waistedness. Maybe I should pay attention to names after all, I guess they’re at least … descriptive … I didn’t see the alternative in the shop (it was a bit of a hit-and-run shopping sesh) and I kind of wish I’d gone for those now, as the ‘midi’ does finish at an odd place for knickers.
But the best news of all? They’ve just been reduced in the sale to £16 from £25! Good news for all yous that are yet to buy that is, not so good for bitter old me who’s already bought them. They’re available several different colours and in sizes 30-40 A-E.
Bear in mind to snatch up this pretty festive set quickly, because if you run out of Christmas Decs, there ain’t no pair better to decorate your tree or pair with a bauble to two.
Thank you very much for this very well-written review !
