Lara Intimates Review: Wren & Ava

Back in 2017, we fell in love with a young brand called Lara Intimates. They’ve been going from strength to strength since then, and we’re more in love than ever! This brand has sustainability at its core: using ‘deadstock’ fabric (remnant fabric from other fabrics that would be otherwise thrown away), and hand sewing garments to order, minimising on waste and ensuring a fair supply chain. Their amazing ethics combined with beautiful designs make them irresistible – especially when they’re dropping gorgeous unique colour combos on their instagram every week!

Char is slowly building up her collection (she’s aiming for one in every style in different colours – as and when the budget allows!) There isn’t a huge amount to say in these reviews. Essentially, the designs are flawless: comfortable, practical and stylish. Luckily – we’ve been on a BCLC mini break, so managed to snap some shots in the beautiful Peak District worthy of these gorgeous designs.

The Ava bra in 30F

The Ava bra is a gorgeous triangle bra which doubles up into a racerback – incidentally, the easiest conversion I’ve ever had! Super comfortable, with an elegant athletic look to it. It’s beautiful in lilac (or they’ve recently dropped the beautiful Blossom Pink, which is similar and equally pretty). Really easy to blend under pale tops instead of a white or nude bra, and I love to convert the back so that the pretty straps are on display! SIZING ADVICE for the Ava: they’re currently running a bit small in the cup, so SIZE UP. I was a little hesitant to follow this advice at first, as ‘D – E’ are grouped into one size, so sizing up for me meant selecting 30F. That just seemed ridiculous to me, given I normally size into a 30D or 32C. But it fits absolutely perfectly in this size; so definitely size up if you’re shopping the Ava.

The Wren bra in 30D,DD,E

Lara Intimates dropped their Olive range a month or so ago, and as soon as I saw the fabric go live on instagram, another purchase was in the bag!! The Wren bra is an amazing design, which features that change between across the spectrum of sizes to accommodate for smaller to larger cups. This style in my usual 30D (Lara size 30 D,DD,E) gives plenty of coverage and support. I can’t quite get over how supportive both of these bras are, considering the sheer fabric and absence of underwiring. I’m never going back!! Clever seams and fabric perfectly support without the need for wires or padding. So much more comfortable – especially on hotter days and holidays. I love wearing this style under low-cut tops, dungarees and halters – it provides an extra bit of coverage, and I get to show off this stunning garment – which would otherwise be hidden underneath. The olive may be my all-time favourite colour…but ladies at Lara, I am willing to be challenged on that! I also love the deep scoop back and thick straps – all the more fabric to flash.

Both sets feature fully adjustable straps and three sets of hooks and eyes. Keep your eyes peeled on Lara Intimates instagram page, which features lots of beautiful ladies and lingerie, as well as regular updates on limited edition fabrics and sizes coming in. There was a gorgeous rust brown/orange we spotted on a factory visit not long ago that may well be the next on our hit-list, along with their lovely looking briefs which we’ve yet to try!
